מקס רובינסון נולד ב-5 בדצמבר 1925 בוויניפג, מניטובה, קנדה, להוריו אהרון מאיר רובינסון ומארי רובינסון (לבית חמלניצקי). הוא התגייס לצה"ל כמתנדב חוץ לארץ (מח"ל) ב-23 ביולי 1948, והוצב בפלוגה א' בגדוד הראשון של חטיבת יפתח - פלמ"ח בספטמבר אותה שנה. בתקופות שונות התגורר בוויניפג, בירושלים, בטורונטו, במונטריאול, בוונצואלה ובקובה. כמו כן רכש תואר ד"ר בפיזיקה מאוניברסיטת טורונטו. למקס שני בנים: זאב ואלן.

  Max Robinson was born on December 5th, 1925 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, to Aaron Meyer Robinson and Mary Robinson (née Chmelnitsky). He enlisted in the IDF as an overseas volunteer ('Machal') on July 23rd, 1948, and was assigned to Company A in the 1st Battalion of the Yiftach Brigade - Palmach in September of that year. At different times he lived in Winnipeg, Jerusalem, Toronto, Montreal, Venezuela and Cuba. He has also acquired a PhD in physics from the University of Toronto. Max has two sons: Zev and Alan.
