The first raid on the radar station was executed on January 20th 1946, simultaneous to the second raid on the Giv'at-Olga coastal police station. Both attacks were executed as a response to the capturing of the then largest Haapala ship – 'Enzo Sereny' – at sea, with 908 immigrants on board. The purpose of these operations was: Hitting targets that made Haapala to Israel difficult, as part of the 'tied battle' approach.
The operation against the radar station was executed by a squad of seven warriors (among then one woman) from the First Palmach Battalion, headed by Raphael Ginsburg ("Tarnegol.") The force discreetly infiltrated the facility and planted the explosives in two hay sacks. The squad retreated to Haifa. Its members hid inside prearranged residential homes and awaited the explosion a half an hour later. The British, who were on base, received a telephone instruction to stay clear of the area, so as to prevent unnecessary casualty. A British officer attended the detonator, deactivated the fuse and thwarted the sabotage.
