Operation execution and the destroying of the radar

The radar in the French Carmel was attacked by a squad of 14 warriors headed by Raphael Ginsburg ("Tarnegol.") The force drove from kibbutz Sha'ar-Ha'amakim until it neared the target, and did the remainder distance on foot. The first fence was cut at 22:30. A half an hour later, the second fence was broken through. During the last break through, A British guard spotted the force 20 meters away from the radar facility, and opened fire. The fire exchange went on for about 20 minutes. During that time, the Palmach members managed to detonate some of their explosives and began retreating under fire. Eliezer Arkin, one of the saboteurs, was critically injured in his chest, fell captive by the British and passed away shortly thereafter. Two other injured warriors were removed by the force from the line of fire, were bandaged and joined the force's retreat expedition towards Haifa. The radar itself was not entirely destroyed, but was out of commission for a few weeks.
The platoon that attacked "The Small Radar," headed by Rafi Eitan, also drove from kibbutz Sha'ar-Ha'amakim. The warriors left by foot towards the radar at 24:00. After breaking through all three fences, the force infiltrated the facility at 03:00. The saboteurs began planting their demolition charges and the rest of the warriors lined up in three cover-up squads. A military patrol coming from the shore was attacked by one of the squads. The camp soldiers got up and opened fire at the Palmach warriors. Meanwhile, the saboteurs finished preparing the demolition charges for the explosion and the force retreated to kibbutz Yagur, one of them slightly injured. The radar facility was destroyed.
