The 19 year old Bracha Fuld served as a squad commander in Danny Mass's platoon, which belonged to the Fifth Company. The company resided in kibbutz Giv'at Hayyim. On the eve of the operation, the Palmach Commander, Yigal Alon, visited the kibbutz and approved Bracha Fuld's explicit demand to include her in the operation.
Fuld was appointed as the squad commander of six warriors, and settled in 21 Marmorak Street. The street was a few hundred meters away from the British military base at Sharona ('Hakiriya' of today) and was one of the main traffic arteries into the city back then. The warriors arrived there gradually, so as not to arouse any suspicion. Fuld was accompanied by Meir Chefetz, the two disguised as a romantic couple leisurely strolling about. The squad commanded by Fuld belonged to the outer ring that surrounded the planned disembarkation area of the immigrants. Another squad headed by Fuld settled on a roof top on the other side of Marmorak Street. The squads were equipped with Molotov bottles, grenades and weapons. Their job was to prevent any possibility of British forces entering the disembarkation area (even at the cost of forceful resistance.)
