Supply convoy to the Negev during Operation 'GYS' no.2"
On the night of the 20th and the 21st of June, 2 jeep companies remaining in the 'Givati' region after 'Pleshet' operation, infiltrated the separation strip occupied by the Egyptians. The convoys were forced to find passage through non- Egyptian dominated areas, due to the Negev's desperate need for supplies.
On the night of the 31st of July and the 1st of August, a convoy organized by the 'Negev' Brigade including 27 trucks left Bir Zeita accompanied by 'Givati' Shualay Shimshon' troops. 2 trucks couldn't cross the wadi and were left behind, while the rest of the convoy crossed the Majdal-Bait Jibrin road near Hirbet-El-Mansura. Another truck was blown up on a land mine, killing one man.
The convoy continued to Shiekh-Abu-Razala under the protection of the 2 army posts occupied by 'Yiftah' Brigade, where they were picked up and transported to Ruhama by the 9th Battalion. One half-track was towed to Ruhama after encountering a land mine. The 'Shualay Shimshon' troops returned north and the army posts occupied by 'Yiftah' Brigade were vacated.
