The Yarmuk Bridge was the longest bridge destroyed in the 'Night of the Bridges' operations, on the night of the 16th to the 17th of June 1946.
The Yarmuk Bridge was the longest bridge destroyed in the 'Night of the Bridges' operations, on the night of the 16th to the 17th of June 1946. It served as an extension of the Hijazi railroad track that began in Haifa, and via Adrei in Jordan, later on split to Damascus.
The sabotage mission of the bridge was assigned to a force the size of a platoon. The force consisted of Palmach unit members that loved in kibbutz Ashdot-Ya'aqov and kibbutz Afikim, who belonged to the Company 3 of the Third Battalion. The operation commander was Ya'aqov Spector, the deputy second in command of the battalion.
