Bombing execution of Yarmuk Bridge

When the force reached the bridge, it turned out that unlike earlier scouts, the guard posts were not manned. The demolition charge consisting of 300kg of explosives was placed in the four corners of the bridge. The charge went off and the bridge collapsed.
At dark, the force left the Afikim grove on a platform hitched to a tractor, and fifteen minutes later, arrived near the Yarmuk riverbed. At 22:00, once organized, the force began advancing on foot towards the target, 4km away. At 21:30, a secondary force of six warriors left Afikim and placed barricades on the roads leading to the bridge. At the same time, two armed Palmach members entered the post office building in Moshava Kinneret. They phoned the Samakh and Tiberias police stations and on behalf of the Jewish Resistance Movement, warned them that the buildings were booty-trapped with explosives set to go off a half an hour later. The report caused chaos and diversion of the British forces, which pointlessly fired in Lake Tiberias area that whole night, while the main force neared the Yarmuk Bridge.
When the force reached the bridge, it turned out that unlike earlier scouts, the guard posts were not manned. The demolition charge consisting of 300kg of explosives was placed in the four corners of the bridge. The charge went off and the bridge collapsed. While retreating, the force came up against a group of riders from the Trans-Jordan borderland unit, which hurried to the explosion scene. Two of the riders were shot and the rest went away.
The force continued its retreat through the Jordanian territory, and crossed the Yarmuk once again near El-Adasiya, safely returning to kibbutz Ashdot-Ya'aqov. The Yarmuk Bridge remained destroyed till today, and the traffic on the Hijazi railroad track ceased.
