The force left from kibbutz Ayelet-Hashahar on three horse wagons and drove till Mishmar-Hayarden. From there, the warriors began moving towards the target. On their way, they cut off the phone line connecting the bridge police with the military base in Rosh Pinna, and laid barriers on the road leading from the base to the bridge. At 23:20, a diversion tactic began, performed by a squad with five warriors, headed by Avraham (Perdo.) The squad left Birya, arrive at Har Kena'an, where it opened fire and threw grenades towards the British police and the Trans-Jordan legion base that was nearby. The British and Jordanian were confused by the artillery, shot at each other and called for help from the Rosh Pinna base. That way, their attention was completely diverted from the bridge.
