The British Response to the Second Sabotage in the Giv'at-Olga Police Station

Unlike their response after the first raid, this time the British restrained themselves from launching an extensive search operation to locate Palmach members.
Unlike their response after the first raid, this time the British restrained themselves from launching an extensive search operation to locate Palmach members. They might have been influenced by the negative public response to their penalty operations after November 25th 1945. 'Siyomke,' who assumed a false identity, was arrested in kibbutz Sarid during "Black Sabbath," but the British, who had been looking for him since the Giv'at Olga sabotage, could not identify him. He was released with the rest of the "Black Sabbath" prisoners. The Jewish carpenters and painters, who worked in restoring the police station, were bound by 'Siyomke's Palmach unit when leaving work, so as to remove any suspicion of them cooperating with the saboteurs. The trick failed: They were imprisoned in Latrun, only to be released with the "Black Sabbath" prisoners in October 1946.
