Receiving the 'Go Ahead' for Sinking of the 'Lino' Ship

Shaul Avigor received approval from David Ben Guiron in Israel and placed Shalom Levin in charge of the sinking operation. The initial plan – to blow up the ship from the air - was disqualified because the chances that it would succeed were slim. With that, pilots and airplanes were used to identify the 'Lino's' location when it set sail.
At the same time, Yosef Dror began to prepare the bomb and its fuse that he developed and assembled in a workshop at the 'A' purchasing army base.
The bomb was made using a carton of explosives to be hung from the outside of an airplane. "When the airplane will fly above the 'Lino', it will release the carton and as it falls the fuse will be triggered, exploding the 50 kg. bomb and sinking the 'Lino'."
However, the leaders of the 'Hagana' in Italy were doubtful as to this method's success and searched for an alternative as well. The idea of sending out an armed ship to be operated by an Israeli team that would attempt to take over the 'Lino' and bring it to Israel was also considered. It was up to Amnon Yonah to prepare the operation.
