Amiad (Haholshim, Jib Yosef)

Palmach settlement founded in January 1946.
A Palmach settlement founded on land previously purchased by the Keren Yesod, near the Tiberius – Rosh Pina road, bordering on Ramat Korazim, in the eastern upper Galilee, 4 kilometers south of Rosh Pina. On the 17th of January 1946, about 30 Palmach veterans arrived at the site, members of the Haholshim group of the Noar Haoved movement, and members of the Hever Hakevutzot, who were trained as part of the Palmach's F Company.
At first, the settlement was referred to by its members as Jib Yosef, which was the name of the khan located to the south of the settlement. For a while, the settlement was named after the founding group – Haholshim, but finally it was renamed Amiad, a name that symbolized the People of Israel.
During the War of Independence, the settlement served as a departure and assembly point for Palmach forces, from which they departed on several important operations in the upper Galilee region.

Both during the War of Independence and afterward, a group of immigrants from the Netherlands settled in Amiad, and the settlement was transformed into at Kibbutz affiliated with the Ichud Hakevutzot VeHakibbutzim.
