On the night of 13.5.48, the Fourth Battalion attacked the radar station. The battle lasted ten hours. Platoons moved on foot, under cover of the pine woods, from the Pfefferman House to the quarry near the station. At the same time, an armored platoon advanced, led by an armored vehicle equipped with a cannon. When about 200 meters from the outpost, the armored vehicles came under heavy fire and were forced to draw back.
The following day the armor made another attempt to break through, aided by “Davidka”; but this attack too was repulsed. On the third attack, the leading vehicle silenced the fire from the gate with cannon and machine-gun fire, and an infantry patrol was able to get in and storm several positions inside the compound. A search of the outpost revealed that the defenders had withdrawn to Bidu village.
The attackers had one man killed. The outpost was handed over to a platoon from the Jerusalem Field Corps.
