The ‘Burma Road’ was breached in the months of May to June 1948 in the region of the hills within Israel’s borders in the area to the south of Latrun. It started at the Hulda-Latrun road (near Dir Muchsin, today Bakoa) continued close to the villages of Beit Jiz (Harel) and Beit Susin (Taoz) and exited on the road leading from Har Tuv to Sha’ar HaGuy. Food and army equipment were moved along it to the besieged Jerusalem when the siege neared the red line.
