Gavriella

"Gavriella" had previously served as a fishing boat and cruise ship between the Greek shores. "Gavriella" sailed from a small gulf near Piraeus on September 2nd 1945, with 40 immigrants on board. The ship safely arrived in Israel on September 9th, without being spotted by the British.
The "Gavriella" Haapala ship was prepared for departure to Israel in Piraeus port in Greece, by Levy Shevet (Schwartz), Charilos Hortis and Yitzhak Elsheich (Abuzi.) The ship commander was Yitzhak Elsheich. There was no 'Gidoni' on board the ship, most likely due to the lack of wireless operators in Europe at that time.

A Palyam escort cruiser, which left Sdot-Yam to meet the "Gavriella" and help navigate it to the shore, did not find it; the ship found its own way to Caesarea shore. The immigrants disembarked and the ship returned to Greece with its commander.
