Medal of Valor – Avraham Avigdorov

Avraham Avigdorov, a soldier in the 1st Battalion, participated with his unit in an ambush near Kiryat Motzkin on the 17.3.1948. The purpose of the ambush was to attack the Arab convoy of armaments on its way from Lebanon to Haifa. When the convoy drew near, the soldiers in the ambush opened fire and hit some of the trucks. The Arabs from the convoy took up position in the ditch on the side of the road and began to fire in the direction of the ambush. The fighters attacked the Arabs with grenades and Avraham Avigdorov destroyed two 'Bren' machine guns at close range, thus demolishing the Arabs' fire-power. He was wounded when one of the trucks exploded.
