Medal of Valor – Yizhar Armoni

Yizhar Armoni, a soldier in the 3rd Regiment, participated in the Nebi Yusha Fortress battle in the Northern Galilee. Yizhar was a fighter in the force that penetrated the barbed-wire fences that surrounded the fortress. The force was discovered by the Arabs while they were preparing the explosives to blow a hole in the fortress wall and they were forced to withdraw. Yizhar heroically enabled their retreat and evacuation of the wounded, by covering them with his machine-gun, until he himself was killed.
