The company was assembled in 1941 from Kibbutz and settlements members in the Shomron, Emek Hefer (Hefer Valley) and the Sharon. After only ten days of training the men were sent back home due to a shortage in budget, there they remained for their first year of service, training in small ‘homely’ units as a standby force ready to recruit within 24 hours. Due to the threat of the German invasion the company was sent on intensive training in Mishmar Hae'mek in the spring of 1942, and then spread out across various farms in the western Jezre’el Valley.
Towards the end of the summer of 1942 the company was transferred to its permanent camps in Jezre’el Valley and the Western Galilee in Kibbutz Ailon, Hanita Yagur and later Gvat and Hazore’a and there arranged in platoons and followed a routine of agricultural labor and military training.
