The company was assembled from the Hagana youth members in Tel Aviv and its surroundings who joined the Nahal (Pioneer Combatant Youth) groups from the agricultural school Mikve Israel in the summer of 1941. The company’s formation process was prolonged, perhaps because its men initially regarded themselves as loaned to the Palmach by the Hagana in Tel Aviv. After ten days of intensive training they were sent to their homes as the other companies, there they trained on a minor scale and waited to be called upon again to recruit. In the spring of 1942 the company was recruited and trained at first at Ben Shemen, then in Mishmar Hae'mek, and posted in the Kibbutzs of the eastern Jezre’el Valley. Towards the end of the summer of 1942 the company’s men were permanently posted in Emek Hefer and the Sharon; in Giv’at Hayim, En Hahoresh, Ramat Hacovesh and Giv’at Hashlosha.
The company suffered a twofold crisis, first when its men opposed to the Palmach’s agricultural labor and military training routine, and then when some of the company's men joined the British army. Still, it managed to unite and attain its goals.
